Well, this is finally going to be a shorter blog. The one thing that surprised me in Cambridge is people were riding bicycles everywhere. Even lots of Professors ride bicycles. The one thing I noticed about these bicycles is that all the handlebars are straight. Cambridge is a town packed with people. It’s hard to even weave through the crowd walking much less ride a bicycle but people do and they do so without running into someone. I would just sit at the window in a coffee shop, usually Nero, and just watch the crowd. It’s amazing to watch people on bicycles ride through the crowd. Age doesn’t matter either. I’ve seen people of all ages riding their bike to get from one place to another. This town is way too congested to get around in a car. A car would be a pain here.
I love the picture that has a sign up that says, “Fellows Only.” I didn’t grow up around the highest academics like they have here so just about everything here fascinates me. When I first started taking the photos of the bicycles I thought I was cutting off the front of the bicycles front tire. As I soon learned I was not. There are slits in the concrete to hold the front tire secure. This is mostly where the bicycles are parked near the road.To have my feet touching the same ground as some of the most brilliant minds the world has ever known still feels unreal for me. The culture is different. The town has a different vibe about it. I wished I had taken more pictures of the bicycles but Cambridge had so much to take pictures of everywhere I looked. Hope ya’ll enjoy.
