LIVING IN RETIREMENT

Living in retirement. What do I want to say here. First, I retired from my job on June 16th. so I’ve only been retired four months. When a person retires, they don’t automatically know they are retired. The mindset that a person can’t stay out late on a Sunday night because they have to go to work on Monday, then it suddenly dawns on them, ” Yes, I can stay out late.” Small revelations like that come in a little at a time. It’s was big transition that I started to prepare for it at least five years in advance. Retirement is a time to live the life you wanted and dreamed of in your youth. At least that is the case for me. Plus, my taste have changed over time and those dreams took on a different look. I wanted to make this transition in a different way than I had seen others make it. I retired on June 16th, sold my house, paid off my jeep, and I flew out of the USA on June 19th. I spent the next 7 weeks traveling the UK and the EU. Here are some pictures from the first week of my retirement, I hope everyone enjoys them. There will be more to come as I learn how to blog and calm my mind down enough to stay still.

I have put descriptions with the pictures but since I’m new at this, I can’t seem to make those descriptions show. So, I’ll just have to tell you here what they are. These four pictures are of Lepe Beach in the UK. This is where D-Day was launched This is all that remains of the infrastructure from that day. Over 6000 soldiers and equipment left from this site for Normandy. The two structures that are out in the ocean are called Dophins. Ships were anchored on these. I felt incredibly humbled to be standing on this hallow ground. Sorry about cutting off the bottom corner of D-Day sign but I was working with a new camera and I was just thrilled to be in the UK but there is enough information there to give ya’ll an idea of the actives on D-Day.
